Nothing. The CASF Digital Literacy Program is fully funded by the California Advanced Services Fund. There is no cost to participants — ever.

Eight weekly modules with 46 self-paced lessons. Each cohort has eight weekly 2-hour live sessions (16 hours total), which exceeds the 8-hour minimum required by the California Advanced Services Fund. Online lessons are practice only. Certificate hours come only from instructor-recorded class time. Classes are held in person at 201 Turk Street, San Francisco. To earn your certificate you need 8 hours of live class time recorded by your instructor and a passing score on all 8 weekly quizzes.

Yes. Once you complete 8 hours of verified training and pass all 8 weekly knowledge checks, you'll receive a Certificate of Completion automatically. Each certificate has a unique verification code so employers can confirm it's real.

Eight weekly modules: getting comfortable with technology, internet basics and meeting AI, email and AI-assisted writing, staying safe online, everyday digital tools, deeper AI literacy, AI for life, learning and work, then practice and certification.

No. A limited number of take-home devices may be provided to eligible participants who complete the program, subject to availability.

Contact your instructor to arrange a makeup session; availability must be confirmed. Your certificate requires at least 8 instructor-recorded live class hours AND passing scores on all 8 weekly quizzes. Self-paced practice cannot replace attendance.

Yes. Your registration information is used only to administer the program and required grant reporting to the California Public Utilities Commission. We never sell participant data.

Yes. After you register, your participant portal unlocks all 8 modules as a self-paced online course — 46 written lessons, hands-on activities, and a short quiz per module. Self-paced lessons are practice and do not count as class hours; the certificate requires 8 instructor-recorded class hours plus all 8 weekly quizzes.
