San Francisco questions, answered
Are the classes really free for San Francisco residents?
Yes. There is no tuition, no fee, and no credit check. The program is funded by grants and donors so it stays free for adults across San Francisco and the Bay Area.
Where do the classes meet in San Francisco?
The 36 lessons are self-paced online so you can do them from home, a library, or a phone. San Francisco participants also get live support sessions and one-on-one coaching from our team, scheduled around working hours.
Do you have free computer classes for seniors in San Francisco?
Yes. Many participants are 55 and older and start with no computer experience at all. Lessons use plain language, big steps, and you can repeat any lesson as many times as you want.
I don't own a computer. Can I still take the class?
Yes. You can complete lessons on a phone, tablet, or a San Francisco Public Library computer. Participants who need a device can also receive a refurbished Chromebook to keep through our free laptop program.
How long does it take?
Eight weeks, about one to two hours a week, 36 short lessons. If you fall behind, your progress is saved and you can finish with the next cohort.
Do I get anything I can show an employer?
Yes — a verifiable certificate of completion you can share on LinkedIn or attach to a job application, plus practical AI and computer skills you can demonstrate.
What if I speak Spanish or Cantonese?
Lesson materials are available in English, Spanish, and Chinese, and our coaches help translate where needed. Tell us your preferred language when you enroll.

San Francisco Public Library branches run free drop-in tech help and one-on-one coaching, and city workforce centers offer free computer labs and job-search assistance.
